A few of my goods now available at the 'farmhouse', are my DIY ORGANIC WASHER AND DRYER KIT, which comes in its own handy carry pouch, milk soap bar, that works on the toughest dirt and delicate cloths, a 5 ft. string of para cord, for self made clothesline, and some handy clothes pins to boot!

 

I call this soap my "Dirt Clod", since I guarantee it's special mix works tough on dirt, but exceptionally good to your skin at the same time!

My most basic milk soap, is a good all around soap, with hints of rose and lavender, for their essence benefits, of soothing and de-stressing skin.

I love art especially when it qualifies as functional as well.  These pot holders I make, can any saying you like on them, in Spanish or English, in a large variety of colors! Made entirely from 100 % cotton, they will endure a good while!

This is one of my favorite sayings, and designs; all art potholders come with a hanging loop at the center top.

 So here we are coming up on Thanksgiving, a traditional season of cooking and baking, and sure enough is the same for us here at our "farmhouse" in Emmett.

Some of our favorite traditions for goodies, include Peanut Butter or Chocolate Fudge, Lemon - Ginger Jam, Jo-jo's jello salad, Snowball Cookies, Peanut Butter Cookies, Chocolate Chip, Pumpkin Snicerdoodles, and lastly and beastly is "PEIGI'S C.O.W. Cookies - Cranberries, Oatmeal, and White Chocolate Chips!

    

                                                              

                                               

        

 

So I get that my blog is called "peigi-m-outofthewestDESIGN" and mercy! I haven't actually added any previews of my designs-so I thought I should make a little more effort to show you some that I do have.

Above you see a collection of flowers, that I grew to love, while living in the state of Utah; out in the southwest area is a vast high plains desert, that I initially dismissed as having any beauty of any kind!

Bit by bit I allowed myself to be educated about plants and animals growing in the desert! My heart took a big turn around from learning and seeing first hand, the desert tortoises that loved to eat the beautiful hot pink cactus flowers! After only a few of them, they looked like they had applied a lipstick that was quite "fetching" for the look of the turtle!! This design can be found in my "Spoonflower" store, and can be ordered for a really large variety of items for home decor, or apparel.

 

Some more "neighhhhbors"😀 of ours...live up in the hills north of us here in Emmett. I don't know the name of this bunch, but it was exciting to see them out in the wide wide open lands.  And like the few and far between ones I saw in Arizona, it is my hope to fide out a horseback, just to observe and photograph a BLM herd.

It reminds me a little of the following Scripture art I did for myself, that included a photo of the motorcycle I had a couple years ago: a Yamaha V-twin 250.  Just a reminder of pleasures I've had from time to time to the glory of my Lord.

Enjoying Emmet, Idaho and making new friends!

   Time again for meeting new neighbors!!

                    

   

    For a bit of an outing, and a stretch of our 'shanks mare', we found a path that walked us past several old farms, and large pastures. In one pasture that actually shares a fence line with the park we live in, we discovered a small herd of long horned cattle.  After a few weeks of walking by, (AND resisting entering the property for closer up photos) I encountered the owner of the cattle, as he was there dropping off hay and defrosting the pump on the stock tank.  I sent Ray and Sally our little cow dog, on home so as not to stir up too much excitement, and went on in to the yard, and introduced myself! 

     Mr. Packer, was very kind and accommodating to my wishes for more photos, even in the middle of his work!  I was not happy about the overcast skies, since it was poor lighting for the brilliant colored cattle, but I was not going to pass up my opportunity, to make a connection with this very neighborly man. Anyways, many know a strong, diffused light can be very good for portraits so I took advantage of it, as well as he and his grandson's easy going nature, to take on the spot portraits of them!

    Guy also invited me out to his own farm (he was only leasing the place close to us) to come out and take more pictures in the warmer days, for a photo contest this coming fall! I am very excited for that opportunity, for a couple reasons including being so close  to these huge cattle, WITH someone who will help keep me safe, while I move around shooting my camera.

Catching Up a Bit...

    Ray and I are actually about to mark, a one year anniversary of having moved to IDAHO. Yet another western state, in part of the group of "northwest United States"! After finishing a 2 year project in Cedar City Utah, and wanting a change in elevation, we found reason and more to move to another new built house in the small town of Emmett, Idaho, and live within better reach of  a few more relatives! 

    The absolute BEST part of the move, is that like Cedar City - again we found - and were invited to - attend a certain church! We took up the invitation and have been attending  Eagle Christian Church, in Eagle Idaho (about 15 miles away from the house).

    This Sunday past,  pastor Jacob, gave a teaching on the passage in Matthew 28:11.  I derived so much inspiration from it, and need to resist my compulsion, to try to retell his whole teaching, but will say in essence an important point for the two of us. 

    Since coming to Idaho, we have both been working on landscaping and gardening around the house; along with setting it up for potential guests. There's a certain time, when those things will either be done, or need little maintenance, and what do we do after?! To answer that, it will be only determined by the things that Jesus commissions, as He has promised his "load is easy" and His burden is light!

     At the present, we spend a lot of time getting to know our neighbors, praying for them, and getting active in the local 4-H organization.  While I don't have any full time jobs these days, I still find myself pressed for time, in trying to be productive in photography, graphic arts, needleworks, and calligraphy!  So I struggle still, after 50 some years to do what Jesus commissions me to do!!But I don't give up, and I apologize for being so hardheaded!

Anyways, I have more ahead, and I will run to receive the prize - IN HIM!

 Since I was talking about eateries, thought I would mention here another photogenic place called 'The Stone House' towards Olympia, Washington. 

It had served previous lives as a residence, and a filling station, and was resurrected into a charming cafe', with an iconic old pickup truck, in the front and a really fun themed decor inside, of a gas station, including oil barrels that were re-made into table chairs! 

Its a small place, but another great place for light food and conversation!  Thankful my daughter treated me, hope to go again!
